Every pregnancy is unique. Please always listen to your extremely intelligent & intuitive body, and never push yourself if something doesn’t feel right. If you don’t already own them, I suggest purchasing 2 blocks (the sturdier the better) & a yoga bolster.

I was thrilled to learn about Jess' prenatal series after I became pregnant. Jess is an incredibly creative and intuitive instructor. Her classes are always unique, challenging in unexpected ways, and deeply nourishing. Her prenatal series is no exception. Segment 1
Hopefully you’re starting to feel more like yourself these days! These 4 classes are all about you & your physicality. You may not have been feeling tiptop for the past 12 weeks, or you may have felt like a million bucks! Either way we’ll build strength, work into all those nooks & crannies that may have been accumulating tension since the beginning of your pregnancy, and help you begin this series from a grounded, connected & centered space.

Segment 2
In this segment we’ll be focusing a bit more on our changing bodies. We’ll offer intentions to ourselves & our baby (or babies), work to find space in our hips & shoulders, access the pelvic floor & transverse abdominis, and take a little more time for connection in meditation & savasana.
*if at your 18-20 week ultrasound you were told you have a low-lying placenta, please email me & I can send you tips on how to modify these classes*

Segment 3
In this segment we’ll learn ways to temper lower back pain & joint instability, ease into hip & heart opening without the risk overstretching, explore shapes that help relieve indigestion, and continue to build strength in our legs & arms, resilience & steadiness in our minds, and trust in our bodies.

Segment 4
In this segment we’ll continue to build strength to protect our skeleton & joints, and find time for hip & heart opening. As our babies & our bodies will be growing much more rapidly now, we’ll continue to slow flow with modifications (except for Week 25 - that class is all about finding resilience in our minds & bodies while holding strengthening shapes) as pretty soon our mobility will be quite limited! Mindfulness starts to play a big role in this segment as we touch on techniques to bring with us into our birthing experiences.

Segment 5
In this segment we’ll begin to tone things down, avoiding shapes that strain our abdominal fascia (like planks, full chaturangas, low lunge twists, etc) while continuing to strengthen & stabilize in more supported shapes and relieve tension throughout the back, neck & shoulders. To prepare for labor & staying fully connected to our current experience, we’ll practice focusing on the breath in challenging shapes and finding ease in seated & restorative postures.

Segment 6
In this segment we’ll continue to develop a mindfulness-based practice focused on breathing through/into/with sensation & choosing the most beneficial anchor for our awareness given the present physical, emotional, mental & energetic climate. We’ll continue to move our bodies slowly & methodically, taking time in active & passive shapes, connecting to our breath and finding relief from tension in the shoulders, hips & spine. To honor our unique bodies, pregnancies & experiences, the classes for Weeks 35 & 36 are broken up into mini segments safe enough to practice on their own or all together as a complete class.

Segment 7
This segment is organized a bit differently. As we get closer & closer to meeting our babies, listening & taking cues from our bodies becomes exceptionally important. We are all individuals navigating these last few weeks of our pregnancies in our own uniquely beautiful ways - and this should be honored & celebrated. Some days we’ll want an active, moving, late pregnancy-safe yang class. Other times a stretchy class of hip & shoulder openers or a restorative class to practice meditation feels right. Perhaps a class to help assist baby move into an optimal birthing position & practice breathing techniques would be just the thing. Please choose what’s right for you. Unsure?
